The first Taste Cumbria Food Festival took place in 2010 and saw Cockermouth’s shops, restaurants, hotels and pubs join forces in the weekend-long Cumbrian culinary celebrations. Taste Cumbria is the largest food festival in the County, bringing in over £2 million into the local economy.
The 2016 festival will once again showcase the very best that Cumbria has to offer in food and drink.
Main Street, Cockermouth, will feature over 80 producers who, as always, will interact with the crowd; demonstrating cooking methods, brewing and lots of other food related activities.
The Taste Cumbria demo area will feature Cumbria’s finest chefs and producers, who are certain to entertain audiences.
The Trout Hotel Marquee has become one of the most popular features of the festival, serving fizz by day and hosting the ever popular comedy and real ale gig on Friday and “champagne and soul night” on Saturday.
Jennings Brewery and Tractor Shed will host the beer festival, showcasing Cumbria’s finest ales. Enjoy live music while you sample the ales and find out all about the brewing and producing of beer.
Bitterbeck will host the children’s area this year and the food to eat now will be situated on Market Place, where there will be picnic tables for you to enjoy the very best of hot and cold food from Cumbria and further afield.
Simon Rogan will once again be our head chef at the pop-up restaurant but this time with a brand new venue, the beautiful Woodhall at Bridekirk, just outside of Cockermouth.
The demo stage, showcasing the region’s finest chefs and up and coming talent makes a return to Main Street in our demo marquee. And new for 2016, our masterclasses will be held in the brand new Cockermouth Kitchen Company Showroom in Market Place.
